So I was analyzing the right position... oh good!  I just assume whenever something goes wrong it's my fault.

Not being pessimistic or nothing but we really need to get a few of the titled players on this sight on board because the minute we go out of the openings book we're going to get squashed!

I'm going to wait for Twpsyn to see if we are still in theory, if we are not, I'm going to vote Na3.

Nbd2 with the plan of moving it to g3 via f1 so Re1 would be an required

Yes, still in theory but only barely.

The openings book is still persisting with a3 but this time with a 72.2% success rate (still not a big fan).  [just to give you an idea of how far off the beaten track we are this statistic is taken from only 9 games]

    Other suggestions:

    Re1 (83.3% success [taken from 3 games])

Be3 (66.7% success rate [again taken from 3 games])

I think I'll have to start looking away from the openings book to my main database from here on in to see if there are any transpositions and so on.  Who knows Batsford's modern chess openings might get taken off the shelf.

Na3 with that few games, we might as well be out of theory.

    Re1

NOT because of the success rate(which is useless from 3 games)

    i like this move
