So some fool decides to leave this little note in my tracked activity. Seems the game we are now playing is going in his favor and since I keep playing, well read below and you can gauge his feelings

...you know, I was looking to see if anyone ever had a lost game, then  continue playing as if they had a " Diehard" battery installed  in them. If you consider yourself a real chessplayer, then you should resign;I would only continue if I had no theory of the endgame to speculate to no avail!! If you don't know about the endgame then buy some books on them.

Funny thing is, before he wrote this to me he sent a note to me in my message board saying,"YOU LOOSE NOW!" I decided not to indulge him his tirade and shut down my message area. If  this type of scenario played out in my presence I'd have no qualms with sending him to the hospital with his King shoved up his a$$, but here all I can do is report him to site management. And since he is rated at 1800+ and I a meager 1400+ I decided to draw our 1 move every 3 days to just that. The game; I will loose, will also last a very, very long time. Anyone else have this type of experience?  Cause I was thinking about making a junk-playa area, kind of like the junkmail in our email, we can deposite the misanthropes in their own chess.com purgatory.

Very early in my chess development I was lucky someone gave me the best response I have ever heard after many years of playing the game.

Someone told me if anyone ever asks you to resign.

Simply say.  No, I want to see your winning technique!

   End of conversation.

I am usually a fan of resigning a lost game, but there is no reason to be such a chess fascist about it. I dont think you should have to resign unless you want to and people shouldnt try and tell you otherwise

If someone asks you to resign, they're acting like a jerk. At that point you have to ask yourself:

i) Is the community better off with 2 jerks or 1?

ii) Am I better off if I react emotionally and let my feelings get the best of me, or am I better off moving on with my life.

Are you really accomplishing what you want by having this game stuck in your list of games forever, constantly reminding you of this experience? I realize you're trying to not give your opponent what he wants, but who cares what he gets.

I find it an extreme dis-service to post private messages in a public forum. This is not only immature and wrong and will get you a ban immediately on other sites. There are several mechanisms in place to take care of this, see below, Contact/Report Abuse. This is more appropriate the filling the forums with inane, usless junk!

yeah it is sometimes a little annoying when someone does not resign in a lost position but no point in writing or being offensive about it. If somone writes you insulting messages just dont play them again. Plenty of other people to play with.

And for not resiging in a lost position end result is the person in the winning position gets to see the winning position day after day and the one on the losing side gets psycologically beaten up.   I might even slow down the game for a little mental torture if it is really ridiculous the other person does not resign and just start another game in its place knowing it is already won.    Nothing disagrealbe about that   but no reason to be a jerk to the other person. If the other wants to play until checkmate then that is fine. Maybe the other person wants to learn basic checkmating patterns  Who knows.  I am sure your opponent would have never said that to you face to face  That is a problem with internet  Anomity takes peoples control off of basis courtesy and manners.

I respond:

The value of a private forum is found in public discourse. You know, free speech, private ownership and all. If you want to complain the authorities then feel free to. And by your opinion of a dis-service, I did not apply the username to the forum. If I did, then it might be immature, but not wrong. You see, this inane, usless junk is exactly how the rule of law works. Something happens, it is made public, people decide if it is right or wrong, and make rules to shape behavior. A  fascist  would only seek out the authorities. And it makes you a bit of a  hyprocrite since you put your opinion in this public forum and not in my private message.

Your opponent's resignation is about respect for both you and your position.  To think otherwise is a miscalculation.

The rectal insertion of a king? I'd go with a rook. It'll hurt that much more no matter which way you implant it up there. But yeah, I never resign even in a lost position. As stated above, Transpositions, "I want to see your winning technique!" Make them earn their win, and you gain the experience of watching their endgame techniques, maybe some random tactics thrown in there, etc. A lost game is never a complete loss.

I think you should threaten to punch him.

And, as a chess punk, I resent the assertion that we are little b*****s.  When someone doesn't resign against me, OR when they say I should resign, the first thing I do is beat him up.  I punch and kick.  And eye-gouge.

that would require unnecessary travel and would thus increase his carbon footprint.

i had not considered RayBrooks alternative method.  forgive me. this punch-delivering method appears to be eco-friendly and will not adversely affect our climate.
