First off, sorry for making a completely new topic. There are two big topics on the use of databases and to me the odds of getting a point across in either one is slim to none.
ENDGAME TABLEBASES ARE AGAINST THE RULES.
Read the rules for yourself, tablebases are not allowed. So anyone trying to point out how cheap it is, stop complaining and either tell the people you know that are using them to stop or report them. Same with chess engines.
I am guessing this whole histaria over people using books databases is a delayed reaction to the Game Explorer that was introduced a while ago.
I have just one other thing to say.
Here is a situation that is occuring in a MASS here at chess.com, I will generalize this MASS and call him BOB.
Bob likes to play chess. Bob has bought a couple books on chess oppenings and endgames. Bob plays Chess at Chess.com. Bob Plays MANY games at once, and at all time Bob has atleast 10 games going. Bob wants to read his book, is he not allowed to study while he has these 10 games going at once? Is it cheating for him to look deeper into the openings he is currently employing while he has 10 games qued with half of them having the possibility of being product to the book?
The situation may be hypothetical to some of you but I went through this when I bought my first book. I, like many of you questioned what I was doing. I almost didn't want to read the parts of my book that could pretain to some of the games I had. After thinking about it I found my thoughts rediculous. NONE of you are any better by closing the window before you open your book, if you are like any other Homo Sapian here you have the ability to memorize what you just read and you can still apply it by reopening that explorer and continuing on with your game.
STOP WITH THE STUBORNNESS PLEASE
I almost want to slap logic in everyones face, it bothers me how strong some of you guys oppose the use of databases/books. If you wish to play a game without the use of a book or database simply ASK the person if he or she could refrain from peaking and you have the choice to trust that person as much as you have to trust anyone from playing with engines and other stuff that people shouldn't normally play with in the first place.
Let us end this talk about databases and such. Maybe not completely end it but when talking about it don't just spit in the face of users that use the tools that are there to help them.
Those are very good points, I have wondered the same thing about reading a book while a corrospondence game is in session.
Hi, just wondering if yhere is a button you click to accept a draw. I offered a draw now its my turn to move and I see where it says I have a pending draw offer but I don't see any button to accept it!

If you have offered the draw AND THEN MADE YOUR MOVE, your opponent will see an ACCEPT button. This won't happen until you make your move - because your opponent won't have seen the board.
If he makes a subsequent move, that is equivalent to declining the draw.
the pending draw offer is the one *you* made. It's just reminding you, and will remain there as Art says until you opponents declines it or moves. If someone offers you a draw there is a button to accept.

If someone asks you to resign, does the RESIGN button start to flash?
