Looking back, all the bullshit from Topalov only served to make Anand's victory more glorious and impressive. Congrats, Vishy.

Credit also goes to Topalov. He has been a formidable opponent in the entire series. Eventually it came down to nerves and experience.

A Queen's Gambit by Topalov...but a strong king counter-attack...with a btchslap by Anand to send Topalov crying in his toilet.Laughing

Congratulations to Anand for retaining the title.

Perhaps because of constant comparison with engine-generated lines, it looked as though the world-champion isn't as strong as he ought to be. Even in this last game where he won, it looked as though Anand missed a few "better" continuations.

whites 31st ef inviting the attack seems a strange choice, unless topalov thought he was already losing.

a great series of games, with amazing tactics, both players deserve credit

No doubt remains about the fact that Anand is a great player.  He was tired and said tournament organisers to postpond the match for four days, but, they postpond only for one day.  But yet he prooved that nothing can stop him to win the championship and to retain his title.  I love Anand. I feel proud that I am also a Indian like Anand.

Now does retiring when you're ahead make sense?

Age will continue to take its toll and if the Sofia rules become more prominent,   We may see Anand making more of these fatigue-driven endgame blunders than his younger challengers ... I'd hate to watch that train wreck happen.

I've kept a bottle of 30 year old Glenfiddich in store for a special occation like the birth of my first child... Death of a mother-in-law... This'll suffice. Congratulations Nathan. Morituri te salutant!

    Hi guys,

Great final game, ... great match.  I thoughly enjoyed it.  We (the chess community) was treated to a very high level of chess.  All the games were very competitive.  Hats off to Mr. Topalov.  He was the aggressor thru much of the match and never quit on any game until all were played out.  Congratulations to Mr. Anand, ... a worthy champion.

    Watch your back rank.

Let's hope he has enough gas in the tank for Carlsen in 2012.

Isn't it a bit soon to be annointing Carlsen the next challenger?  There are other men equally strong enough to contend for the title.

     Agree.. Donot count others out..
