Crappiest Chess videos ever!!!

So, I was looking at the DGT eboards and decided to hit youtube to see the boards in use. I found a few hilarious videos from the guy that does the best chessmen ever videos. ( the guy that sounds/acts like Borat)

Then, I came across this train wreck of a DGT unboxing (link below). What caught my attention was it was a series of four vids at almost an hour. I thought how can you unbox for an hour? I clicked and realized the dude was crazy, and not in a funny cool way but bat guano crazy.

This is car wreck bad, you just can't stop watching. And if you look at the video description, this guy has a chess club and appears to have some cross town rivalry going with the Joplin chess club. I'm talking stalker, restraining order, fava beans and kidney crazy. You could make a chess soap opera out of this stuff.

p.s. anyone have a DGT? Is it worth the $$$?

Oh I could stop watching.  Like about 3 minutes was enough, but then human train wrecks rarely interest me for long.  Just sad...

thats a question you have to decide for yourself, but if you play long games over the internet and dont want to stare at the computer so long its worth the price.

Just ran across this thread today. Just to note, his "club" exists of only himself and every time I have heard of someone trying to go there, no one was there, not even him. He actually has an account on here, and another YouTube acount for his club. I will agree, the videos are a bit of a train wreck; I only watch them since he has a history of slander in his online postings. (Disclaimer, I run the Joplin Chess Club USCF affiliate)

That said, I wouldn't mind having a DGT board, but probably wouldn't get a ton of use out of one. Would be neat to have for the top board(s) for tournaments though.

I got to a little over 3 minutes before I had to stop watching.  I think he thinks he's funnier than he really is.

This guy seems like he's pretty obsessed with you guys, Martin, but someone should probably clue him in to the definition of "slander."

I hadn't watched this guy yet, but your description is funny. I don't like the DGT's chess pieces. If I could put my own pieces on the board that would be better, at least in my opinion. I didn't buy one because of that reason. I am picky, especially for that type of price.

Also funny, look into his youtube history :)

So, I'm guessing he's single?  (and will be for a long time)

I'm surprised nobody listed the "guaranteed win" 4 move checkmate:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpXR-nENjD8

    The comments are pretty funny.

Have you watched the Backyard Professor yet? He appears to be amusing without being dangerous, at least not literally BUT paying attn to anything he says about chess may lower your rating by hundreds of points, otherwise he appears to be harmless.

He may be crazy, but his tangents are epic! in the first 3 minutes he moved from DGT to video editing to Adobe CS to the dangers of downloading software illegally to being "mated" in jail.

DGT boards are in general waste of money for private customers, unless is it going to be used in some tournaments. But of course it can be considered the only time you have to pay so much for board and pieces and should be keept atleast for the next decades to come.
