Is there any way to make a custom starting position and then be able to use it to challenge someone. For example: Make a board with all the bishops off, this way if your teaching someone how to play without pieces it would be easier to set it up from the beginning.....
Any thoughts on this?

This would be a great tool for teaching at all levels.

I believe this is already possible for tournaments, it should definately be so for normal games.

It's number #35 on Erik's Wishlist#4 - Allow for creating your own starting position for games
As you're no doubt aware, we are currently limited to about 1,700 'classical' starting positions, each the result of playing a documented opening, ranging
from A00: Amar gambit
to E99: King's Indian Defense: Orthodox Variation, Classical System Traditional Line
This is likely to be a feature of the proposed 'coaching mode'.
