Hi guys,
If anyone out there has read or has this book please help me understand his way of writing chess notation. On page 54 the instructions as notations don't seem to match the de Groot exercise A. For example, it states if I play 1. Nxc6 which is first an empty square and second no white knight is capable of moving to that square in a single move! It also states it will win a bishop pair if it plays Nd7. That too is not possible in one play. Unless it means Ne5 then Nd7. I'm not sure. This is somewhat confusing.

Hi, note: that diagram came from page 16 (with the white knight on e5)
will win the bishop pair if Nxc6 then black do Qxb2, Nxd7 ! (from your diagram)
