Very interesting! If something like this were more than vaporware, I wonder if figurine-voting would end up similar to our vote chess, or lead to quiet games because nobody wants their piece traded off? How people are assigned to be pieces vs pawns would also have an interesting effect on the sociological dynamics of the game.

I couldnt tell, but I think each piece has its own AI...I dont think each piece is represented by an actual human being. i dunno...very confusing. :)
