I was wondering if there is a difference in Shredder 11 and Shredder 11 UCI? One is involved with Fritz and chessbase with a redish brown case, and Shredder 11 UCI looks completely different (authored by Stefan Meyer Kahlen). I am a little confused. Are these the same programs? Any help would be appreciated.

The difference is in the interface, the actual engine is the same. The Chessbase version comes with the same interface as Fritz. The UCI version is sold by the author and comes with his own interface. The Shredder interface will work with any UCI engine such as Rybka, HIARCS or Fruit and the Shredder 11 engines can be used with any interface that supports UCI engines such as Arena.
Thanks, that makes much more sense I guess.
