I was born in McDuffie county Georgia in 1953 and played tournament chess in Dixie from 1973-1997. I am just curious as to how many other chessplayers from Dixie are members of chess.com ? Is there a Dixie group on chess.com ? Please speak up !

I grew up in Dawson County Nebraska, but I have lived in Georgia, off and on, since 1972.  I played tournament chess in Dixie from 1981-1995. I do not know of any Dixie groups here.

I've been active in chess clubs in Augusta, Georgia, Aiken, SC, Statesville, NC, Montgomery, AL, San Antonio, TX, now the Space Coast in Florida (KingLeopold and I played lots of chess together in Melbourne, FL).  My wife is from Taylorsville, NC and a real Southern Belle.  My home of record was Stony Point, NC.  I've played in several Dixie Opens in SC and several Southern Opens in Atlanta.

Hi Bill,

When were you active in Augusta Ga chess ? I am from that area and have been playing chess in Dixie from 1973-1997, most of it in Ga, SC and Bama.....have we ever met? I have a couple of good friends still living in Augusta that are chess players in fact. I knew just about all of the Augusta chess players from 1973-1997.
