I am a novice player but I play atleast 4 or 5 games a day, often against a computer opponent. Now when the computer is on beginner I can win every time, but when I bump it up to easy I lose every time in about 39 moves. Realizing I haven't won a game in over a week on easy I decided to put it on expert just to see how quickly I would be beaten. Much to my suprise I managed to make it 30 moves before losing...shouldnt I have lost much faster? Does the easy difficulty really present that much of a challenge? I need help lol
The number of moves is unimportant. Stringing an opponent along for more moves isn't an indication that you had any more chance of winning.
I see, guess i'm just horrible right now :) hahaha, better off just shuttin up and playin.
Have a look at the games and try to figure out how the computer managed the mating attack/where you lost material etc, you may be able to figure out where you went wrong and correct it.
Right now im at the point where it is hard to actually understand what is happening on the board, especially on my opponents side. And realzing my own mistakes...ive been taught how to move the pieces, and figured out how to set up a small defence..and like you said just kind of prolong my defeat.
Post some of the games if you like and we'll have a look at them for you
You'll lose a LOT while learning. Don't worry about it. Take more time to make your moves, this'll help a lot. Always try to see what your opponent can do with his next move BEFORE thinking what you will do. Try to make moves that stop him AND advance YOUR cause.
Finally, read some good books if you're serious about getting better.
Just post some of your games as others suggested, we'll help.
Thanks for the advice Davy, I have a lot of paitence for losing and understand that this is an art form that can only be perfected through expierence..trial and error, and a lot of study.
