I play at Central Chess Club of Armed Forces. We have about one tournament (usually 9 round Swiss system) in a month. I analyze played games, often with help of computer - I go through opening bases to find more suitable variations, I use engine to find missed strong moves, etc.
But I usually don't save the whole game into database. I analyze positions, variations and close program. (Of course, I have a writing-book of my games.)
Should I keep a computer base of my games? Is it advisable? Do you keep your own?
I keep every game, even casual games that I happen to record or remember are put in. Very handy to then put them in a file and take away to tournaments, or to prepare against a previous opponent in team games, or even just to go over favourite openings, and even just to go over losses to remind oneself to be careful.
Plus with them in one collection, one can even start to see trends in which openings are working and those are not. With some in depth study, one can even see common positional themes that are troublesome to you so that you get a pointer as to what areas you need to improve.
