What is your percentage of games drawn? What do you think the average amateur player's draw percentage should be? Mine is 10%

First, there is no 'should be,' in my view. 2ndly, drawing percentage here will be lower - I'm guessing much lower - than it would be in OTB play. Despite my very apropos handle, I draw rather infrequently here, consistent with my 2nd point. Draws are normally a result of very steady, evenly matched play. That's almost non-existent in LIVE internet chess.Laughing

Yes, you are right. No "should be". That was a poor choice of words. Instead, I guess what I'm trying to figure out is what is the average percentage of games that end in draws (on the amateur level)?

I've got 3 games drawn making a grand total of 5%.

Draws are not very common outside high level play I guess. he chance of someone making a mistake and the other taking advantage is just too big.

3% of my 300+ blitz games were draws, but I once drew 5 OTB games in a row and acquired my handle at the local chess club.

10% drawn in correspondence, 7% drawn in "Long", and 7% drawn in "Blitz". My guess is that the chess.com average is closer to 5% in correspondence and 4% in live.
