Is it right to play for a draw or should you always play for a win?
Well, if you're facing Magnus Carlsen in a blitz game... Try running as fast as you can, and maybe - just maybe - you'll be able to escape while your pieces are still at the board.
Depends on the tournament situation. Generally, playing for a draw too eagerly (e.g. trying to exchange all pieces) is punished by the opponent. You should just play well, and if your opponent is on par, it will be a draw.
absolutely right..
Couldn't agree more. On the other hand, though, if the choice is between a draw and a defeat then playing for a draw is the obvious thing to do. e.g. if your king is stalemated and you only have one other piece, placing the other piece where your opponent can take it.
Thanks for the advice
