I was playing an on-line game (correspondance, not live) and had just played my 5th move.  I hit submit and when I went to look for the game in my list of active games and in my completed games, the game had simply vanished.

Nobody resigned, nobody was checkmated.  The game went up in smoke.  What happened?

Quite simple actually, Neptune being aligned with Mars led to a slight change in the orbit of Haley's comet, which caused it to make a blunder losing it's knight for a pawn. The comet didn't like losing at chess, so it decided to take out it's anger by summoning the spirit of Ashkanius the Destructor to wreak havoc. After the spirit of Ashkanius the Destructor ate all intelligent life in the galaxy except for cats. He then burped. Since the burp of a spirit had magical properties, it knocked a satellite out of orbit and sent it rocketing into the Earth. Meanwhile on Earth's surface a war was going on and a bird crashed into a missile, knocking it into the falling satellite at just the right strength and angle to put it back into a stable orbit. Then, the person reading this decided that it didn't make any sense and had nothing to do with your chess game. Therefore, carrots are healthier than asparagus. Quod erat demonstrandum.

You must be talking about this game  :)

http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=16595898

When you click on 'online chess' the page shows you your games in progress.  It only displays 10 at a time.  But on the right side it does say you have 11 games in progress.  The 11th game is not gone.  The page only displays 10 games.  You can click on 'show all' just right below those 10 games displayed so that you can see all 11 games.  :)

Yeah... of course... everyone goes with the simple theory, because they don't understand the right one. Go ahead and live in your world of fantasy, for you are incapable of understanding the real one.Laughing

sir, while i appreciate your attempt to explain this odd occurance i believe that your logic is askew...i know Ashkanius the Destructor personally and he claims to have no knowledge of the events you speak of...also Haley's comet plays Go not chess...and you conclusion sir is just absurd, carrots and asparagus do not speak latin!
