That you can beat someone at correspondence chess doesn't mean that you're stronger than them at over-the-board tournaments. They're slightly different games. For example, suppose you have deeper strategic knowledge but you also have a nasty habit of falling for forks and skewers when you're short on time.

or suppose you use opening books or the analysis board.  The analysis board alone could easily make a terrible player into a pretty good one, if it completely removed their otb weakness.

I havent yet played in an over the board tournament, but somehow I agree. Its also another thing . I imagin that playing chess in internet is different than live. you dont have eye contact and psychology testing, two strong elements that can change any match at a glimpse

it's also much harder to stare hard at a monitor and concentrate compared to a board, and deep plans can be lost due to the extremly long move times.  This can only act to level the playing field, since people who didnt do these things in the first place will be unaffected.

one more thing, BCF grading is a complete joke.  I struggle to believe either of those grades, but i really have no way of knowing since I have only played a handful of people with BCF grades.  If you had elo ratings at least this thread would make more sense to everyone outside of the BCF.  (and probably most people inside it)
