Emotionally devastated by a loss?

You're playing in the World Open too? :P

Anyway, I think you can still play Kc3 and be able to win the knight back. Say, Kc3 Nf3, Re3 and you get the piece back, anything wrong? You were playing an hour long standard game, you couldn't find it? :P

(BTW, I play on ICC under the same name, gimmewuchagot.)

Oh and I also was reported for cheating once.
The game started out nice and easy going through theory until my majestic skills made me blunder a bishop, I raged but continued.
I later managed to get that bishop back and later on catched another piece and had a really nice position which I won easily.
Apparently he reported me and the admin (or whatever he "spoke" to) told him I've been reported many times and were about to get a ban.
Because if he blunders I'm totally using an engine.

    Memory Lane…

    The Place: Hellenic Chess Federation

The Event: HCF Christmas Open (7 rounds)

    The Year: 1969

I went undefeated to the final round with 6 points against my opponents 5½. After the opening, he started doing something very simple and, as it turned out, very effective against a 13 year-old with no experience in tournament antics: he kept slamming the clock after each move. In my ears, it sounded like a gun-shot every time; my concentration was gone and the only thing I could focus on was the next bang.

After a while I just sat there furious and depressed, mulling over a board I could not really see, hoping the game would soon end. Needless to say, I lost badly and had to walk away feeling humbled and depressed.

Same thing happened to me in my first tournament. A sandbagger entered my group, and I had first place leading into the 4th round game with him. Not only was he stronger, but he started off slamming the clock and I got completely distracted by it. Eventually I asked him to stop, but I was already losing by the time I spoke up. He walked home with 1st place, a check for $500, and promptly never played in another tournament game again.

    my real  raiting is 1300

when i was 1150,i played at a 20 people tourney

there were two favourites-guys rated 1500 and 1550

first tour i mached up with 1550 guy and lost-was obious so i didnt even mind it.the things wentgood afterwards 5/6.In the last mach,i thought that id get mached either with a 1100 or a guy i had known(1250).

but i mached up with 1500.i needed a draw so i went for d4.in e4 hed crush me easily with more expirience about the position.but,he played the benko i was unfamilar with.after a complicated position with a quick trade of queens,i got a double check and gained a rook giving away a bishop.

i came to endgame where i had 6 ponz and a rook against 6p and 1k.he was crying and that was seen even under his hat.but when i was thinking about 2.place,the position turned to 1r against 1n and 2p.(!)i managed to draw but took fifth place just behind the 1500 guy. that was a lesson for me.(im 12 yrs nearly gonna be 13)

I'm pretty sure the knight escapes though I haven't looked at the final position in a while, and anyway, I was completely de-moralized after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and just wanted the game to be over.

I've let my ICC membership lapse for a while, my OTB chess gets more benefit from the G/75 tourneys on Sunday afternoons on FICS.

What section will you be in at the WO?  A couple of years ago, after 6 straight losses, albeit to players rated 1925-2000, my rating dipped down to 1790, and that's when I knew I'd played in the World Open eventually -- I have not let that rating get altered, but rather do sometimes play in OTB quick chess tournaments to still take part in the OTB atmosphere (and talk about another devastating loss: a week ago Saturday I just needed to win my last round game in the Alabama QC championship to tie for first, but in time trouble lost despite being a rook up)

Anyway long story short, last year I did a lot of flying for an out of town contract and got free airline tickets in return, so I decided this would be the year for the World Open.  Maybe I'll see you there.

Well my rating is 1900+ and increasing rapidly (:D) so I'm playing in the U2000 section. Well I'm just a kid :P (check my profile if you want)

I've been frustrated a few times, but never emotionally devastated.  It's just a game.

I just blundered two moves ago. Now I am devastated that I will not be able to save this game.

It's my fault. I made a response move immediately  and didn't take any of the 3 days time I had available. Now I'm taking my time on every move.

I am praying the she will blunder also.

    Then I will devour her.

Glad you're one section higher than me ;)  I'm surely there'll be plenty of strong kids in my section (U1800) too though.  In the first round anyway with my 1790 rating I should be on a high board if you want to observe -- I will however be in the 4-day group starting on Thursday.

    Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah, I found out who you are (looked up 1790 in the players list in your state :P)
