Can anyone recommend a good online resource for studying endgames?  My endgame play is embarrassingly bad.  I've never studied endgames before, so the more basic the better.  If you know of good books, I'd like to hear about those too (even though I have too large a pile of chess books yet to read).  I really appreciate your suggestions.

I just purchased Silman's Complete Endgame Course:From Beginning To Master yesterday.  I had been thumbing through it at Barnes & Noble over the last week or so.  It's outstanding.  It covers the most incredibly basic patterns and concepts early in the book.  As the book goes on, though, Silman discusses some great material.  The best thing about the book is how fun he makes it to study.

I agree with the above. Buy this book. It will probably be the only endgame book you need.

I agree with all the above, Silman's book is worth it's weight in gold

Thank you all for your input.  I'll definitely put Silman's book down as a late addition to my Christams list!  Any other suggestions?
