Erik owes us yet another apology...

I try to log onto Chess.com and instead of letting me get to the site, it wants me to play this stinkin' "little chess partner!"  It says Erik and his fellow Party members are making improvements to the site!  In my opinion, this whole thing is ridiculous.  If I want to log onto Chess.com, well ****, I should be allowed to!  Dictators like Erik should not be allowed to stop me so that they can make "improvements" to the site.  The only "improvements" that I've seen have been useless ones like Live Chess, Games Explorer, and Computer Analysis.  My guess is that Erik and his fellow thugs just close down the site so they can engage in some kind of covert criminal activity, although I'm not sure about the details.  But I've done nothing wrong!  This is unwarranted!  By the power vested in me, I will organize a boycott of all the members who give Erik no money, unless he tells us all the true reason why he regularly shuts down this site for up to like ten minutes.  Non-paying members of Chess.com, unite!

    1. He usually does tell us what he did. See his numerous "Fixes and Features (whatever date)" forum.

    2. You're kidding, right?

    NotKasparov

    Right

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't boycott

we dont know the reason cause we are not in-charge of the site , but for sure there will be improvements soon, and by the way erik might ban you (lol)

    just joking

    1. you make me think that erik is a terrorist and criminal, which leads me to think you are a 5 year old

    2. thanks for giving me a good laugh about erik being a "dictator"

3.erik probably did do some good improvements for you

    4. it may be annoying but it still should be good

  • 4 years ago · #6

    donngerard

and by the way why do you call him a criminal?

  • 4 years ago · #7

    NotKasparov

I would never call anyone a criminal without having proper evidence.  All I said was that I assumed he was engaging in some sort of criminal activity, because I wasn't sure why the site was down.  I'm sure a reasonable fellow like yourself can understand.

You still didnt have to assume he was engaging in "criminal" activity just because the site was down. You are probably a bit pessimistic.

I guess I'm not reasonable, because I can't understand at all.

and its not that easy to improve the site, add new features

thats why erik needs the help of other staff

this could quite possibly be the most idiotic post I've ever read.

I wonder what's next for Erik. Maybe he'll invade a neighboring website and reassure the members of that site that his cause is just and true. Maybe Erik wears tall leather boots around his house and makes his family parade around in honor of the Glorious Chess.com! LONG LIVE CHESS.COM. LONG LIVE OUR BELOVED ERIK!

Yes, I jest, I jest. Laughing

I thought the phrase "up to like ten minutes" made the irony pretty obvious. But then again, this is the internet, where nothing and everything are ironic at the same time.

    Hmm...

Like my friend Grakovsky here stated, I really don't understand what you hope to accomplish with this topic, unless you are really just trying to make inflammatory posts in order to fulfill some morbid sense of accomplishment, or some pathetic attempt for attention.

If you don't like chess.com, why don't you leave? Forget boycotting. I don't know if you know this, but contrary to your opinion, almost all of the users here enjoy chess.com, its interface, and especially the open forum. You are one of the few dissenters I've seen here, and I don't understand it. If you don't like it so much, why don't you just leave? Do you want to start a rally and hopefully organize a group against chess.com on chess .com? I think it's time to grow up.

And by the way, Live Chess is one of the most popular installations to this website, so don't trash talk it without sufficient reason (see quote above).

For all those who thought I was just trying to be inflammatory, I apologize profusely.  I was merely trying to parody some recent posts that have called Erik a dictator for banning cheater_1 and have called for a boycott accordingly (the person who started that forum was also an non-paying member who was obviously ungrateful for all the hard work that Erik has put into this site).  I hate to read all the forums about people arguing over inflammatory topics, but I did get a kick out of Evan's post because he took my point so far in the wrong direction.  Not that that's his fault (well, not all his fault).  I should have made it more clear that I was joking; I had just thought that the sheer ludicrousy of my post would declare that.

Did Erik ban Cheater_1 ???   I hadn't noticed cheater_1 was gone, but then, also hardly noticed he was here either.

oh yes, if he feels upset about not being missed,  we all missed him sooooo much...

    not.

anyone missing the irony in this post??

actually, I hadn't noticed he was gone or banned.

I'm a huge fan of sarcasm and use it whenever possible, but sadly I did not detect it in your OP. So goes life on the internet...

I'm sorry NotKasparov... I'm still just a little peeved about cheater_1's *somewhat dramatic* exit. When he posted, he meant what he posted. I was just used to ridiculous arguments, and used to watching people get so upset. I've been here for a while, and I've been scanning the forums for a while, but I've just recently grown the courage to actually involve myself in the topics.

This post is pretty gray, and someone would need a good sense of humor to see the irony (see jasonpitts's post, and pretty much every post above mine, including mine). I'm sorry for the confusion, but there are probably still people here who will post nasty stuff when they read this. Hopefully not, but probably.

If you like, I can remove my previous post. Tongue out

Not at all!  I got a kick out of it!  Surprised  But really, no hard feelings.  I should have been more clear.

all of this arguing about erik is just stupid, if it weren't for him there would probably be no chess.com
