Error in ''best win'' rating ?

    Hi !

    Just wondering... I just won a player rated 1495 (yay!Laughing), but when I go to my live chess profile, it says that my best win was 1465... the rating of the player -after- I I won... Shouldn't it be 1495... his rating when I played him, and not after I won the game and he had lost 30 points ?

    again, just wondering

    thanks =o)

    You didn't 'won' a player, you beat him.

    The rating recorded is the rating after the win. I think the argument is that the rating after the win is the best estimate of the opponent's rating so that is the one that is used. It's not a bug.

     why are you posting here, go post elsewhere, if your not here to answer his question then dont be here at all,

    I agree, i think best win should be 1495 not 1465, this happens to me, it is so annyoing.

    That's right, the best estimate of a player's true rating is the one after the most games possible have been taken into account. Therefore the true rating of your opponent is closer to 1465, not 1495 Cry I wish that wasn't the case though...

    Well I guessed that as he lives in Canada English would be his first, but I guess that was wrong of me. Sorry rousseausp.

    Aaah ha !  Well thanks for the info guys, pardon my ignorance.

    ... and yes, I am french =o).  ... but I think I would rather ''win'' a player than ''beat'' him lol.  I presume I should have written: ''I have won against a player...''

    Anywho, have a great day all
