You just leave it to soak for a while, then you fri it or grill it.

If you let beef soak in wine or any other preparation, at room temperature 30 minutes is sufficient, in the fridge go 2 hours to 24 hours, do add a spice that you like, ground pepper is fine. Just before putting on the grill at high temperature add a pinch of salt. Sear for 3 to 5 minutes per side turning only once, rare 3 mins per side, well done 5 minutes, this is for a 3/4 inch piece of beef, vizually when the juices come to the top of the piece once you have turned your steak to the other side, the piece is rare.

I love Spanish wine... tempraillo, granache and monastrell blends.  Another bonus is these are usually more affordable in the States than comparable California wines.  I have a store down the hill from me that carries about 100 Spanish labels - I'll check to see if they carry these two.

Those are the best ones, but there're lots of good red wines in Spain. :-)

Zinfandel's have always been my fav followed by Pinot Noir.

A really good Cabernet Sauvignon I've had recently was The Show produced by Rebel wine out of St-Helena in Napa County. $18 cdn up here in Vancouver B.C which is a bargain price. Recently gave a bottle to the secretary I work with and she said it was truly awesome. Worth a try...

Then again its hard to beat a good bottle of MadDog 20/20 for a Red, er Purple wine (substitute any cheap Port wine if in Europe). And for White, the American classic is Thunderbird. A good pink you ask? Boones Farm Strawberry Hill of course! And now about Box wines . . . Smile

Oh, but first ... Congratulations LISA~! (Sure hope she looks like you and not the father tho~) I'm cracking open a Box right now to celebrate! :)

My favorite wine is usually a red wine, either a South American Cabernet or a Australian Merlot or Shiraz. Some of my favorite labels are Veramonte (Chile) and Gumdale or Rosemount (Australia). And I'm not one for one kind of food with one kind of wine. Usually I instinctively match wine and food because of what I'm in the mood for.  The only time I really drink white wines is with my sushi, and then it's usually a Pinot Grigio or a Sauvignon Blanc.
