FIDE Norms Survey: Where were you?

    TadDude

Seems almost impossible to earn a FIDE norm unless you are in Europe.

To be fair their have been recent gains at least in the US. http://www.chess.com/news/3rd-metropolitan-fide-invitational-1636

Recall last year, Bryan Smith was disapponted and Sam Shankland was .... disappointed, yeah that's it, disappointed.  http://main.uschess.org/content/view/10513/596

Shankland did earn his final GM norm in the US.  http://www.chess.com/news/van-wely-wins-4th-berkeley-international-1287

Now Smith has earned a norm in Bulgaria.   http://main.uschess.org/content/view/11067/621/

The 27th International Open 2011 has started and boasts these norms from last year:

During this 26th edition of Cappelle la Grande Chess International open, 13 norms were achieved:

    Norms of Grand Master:

    • Jean-Pierre LE ROUX (FRA)
    • Krisztian SZABO (HUN)

    Norms of International Master:

    • Deysi T. CORI (PER)
    • Deimante DAULYTE (LTU)
    • Florian DINGER (GER)
    • Kamil DRAGUN (POL)
    • Marcin KRZYZANOWSKI (POL)
    • Alexander RAYKHMAN (GER)
    • Marcin SIECIECHOWICZ (POL)
    • Andreas STRUNSKA (GER)
    • Floris VAN ASSENDELFT (NED)
    • Oksana VOZOVIC (UKR)

    Norm of Woman Grand Master:

    •  Deysi T. CORI (PER)

If you have a norm or even three, which tournament and in which country were you?

    ****************************

Edit: The possible contributors are a very small pool indeed. So here is an additional question that includes a few more people.

If you went somewhere to earn a norm but failed, where did you go? Did your opponents turn out to be too weak to count for a norm or did you play poorly?
