Hi,
Could anyone help me please.
I played my first proper game at a club today and wrote down my moves for the first time also. I want to know how I can get the moves onto the computer so I can analyze it and go through it (like the games on the chess.com)
Thanks
oh and I won :)
What kind of analysis are you talking about? If you want chess.com computer analysis then there's no current way of doing that to my knowledge. If you have Fritz/Rybka/CM etc, then it's easiest just to play through the game in infinite analysis mode if you have the chessbase GUI, or play through as a game against 2 humans and analyze it at the end.
Another option is to insert the game position into a forum post and ask for analysis by making the moves in the pop-up editor, it's a pretty intuitive interface and allows you to annotate as you go.
Open notepad and write your moves. For example:1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 etc...
when you save, save as .pgn. you may now open the file with chessbase, fritz, chessmaster or a free chess application.
Thanks, I will give that a go. I downloaded sigma chess (I have a mac) and I'm getting chessmaster 9000? I just want to be able to go through the moves moving forewards and backwards, to analyze myself and probably run them through a program.
Any chess programs that can analyse a game will do.
I managed to do it in a forum post in the analysis section, please take a look.
Willo, do you know how I do it on a Mac? Do i just put .pgn at the end of a file name, no matter how I create it? Foe example can I just write the moves in text edit, save and then change the ending?
I have chessmaster 9000 its great. you will be fine with this.
all the best
