I think the US should make a gesture for the sake of chess & integrity & re-instate his citizenship posthumously.
If you were wondering where my conclusions came from, I was referring to the 5 million dollar prize Fischer was denied by the US, due to the sanction laws at the time he played his rematch with Spassky. I was also referring to the mockery and laughter of the Soviet chess machine specifically, at our attempts to compete with them on the world stage, until Fischer came along.
