not a fan of the old trophies could never find one to suit what i wanted to say so it always ended up being the same old one, I think we need a few more of the old ones not new ones, more variety. Don't like the new style at all.
I don't hate them but I have to agree. They do look like kindy garden stickers, a manufacturing on the roll from the same stamps. Sadly how the world is in general these days. Even cars are starting to look all the same now. Nothing beats the old fashioned look, like where everything was as if was custom designed or original. This is the modern world for you folks and yes, it is kind of sad. Variety of styles are needed to bring back some character.
Brad said it well when he said variety is the spice of life...
sorry Erik, you know I'm a big fan of you and this site, but these new trophies are very bland, mundane and zzzzzzzzz....
Not quite sure what all the fuss is about - I know some people react badly to change and all that... Personally I think the new graphics are much cleaner, but I do agree that the regimented square border around them all make them look more like stamps than trophies. The new graphics on a trophy-shaped background would be fine by me.
Just rename them as something other than trophies ...
... to avoid the confusion.
The old trophies reminded me of elevator muzak.
The new trophies are better, but then again, some people still prefer LPs to CDs even though LPs suck ass way past 10 on the RIchter scale. Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.
Some people prefer LPs to CDs? I can't imagine that!
The changed-designs-of-trophies are in a state of constant flux.
Some like the modern, some like the old, some like the fuzzy, some like the bold. No matter what do not everyone is sold. Siver or Gold? Boiled or fried? Buttered or plain or a train ride? Sunny up or Sunny down? Life is but a merrygoround. Pocket full of poses add some toeses, an eye for an eye or a pig sty? Variety is the name of the game, nobody wants it all the same.
I think the new trophies look awful and it is quiet meaningless, it is not genuine and there is no life in them, it is like someone saying something but doesn't mean it, there is no colour and the graphic or picture does not motivate. At lest with some of the previous trophies one can sense a genuine disire to congratulate or motivate someone.
I have a suggestion, lets us have only 2 types of "trophies";
One is a picture type like some of the previous types, eg. like a Golden Cup or Silver Cup or Bronze Cup or Ribbons or Badges, etc.
The other type is a fun type consisting of just words; eg. "Your play was fantastic", "You move with the Grove", or even something slightly sarcastic like "Give you another prawn and you might turn into a Queen!
Hmmm, maybe we should leave out the sarcasm?
Anyway, what do you think?
Put some more colour and meaning into the Trophies and we will all appreicate it.
sorry about the wrong spellings, I did not check
I prefer the old trophies.
Actually, an LP in good shape, with a top of the line turntable/needle has a fuller, warmer sound than a CD. The biggest problems with LPs is that they wear out after only being played a few times, then they start to get that staticy sound. But before then... yeah, they rock.
As for the trophies, personally, I never did like the old ones, to me they always looked juvenile and silly. The new ones are... better but not great. The ones Erik has proposed as the new generation though seem like they will be nice.
though i rarely send trophies, i find the new trophies ugly and i will not send any of them
The trophies here may be fun for the kiddies but personally I find them just annoying. Winning the game is the only trophy I want. fwiw
I was going to ask this question before you but you asked it first :)))
well in my opinion the first trophies were very beautiful the seconds were bad but the last trophies are pretty good
I quite like some of the new trophies, but not so keen on others.
Cos I... am a little divided.
I agree, they have not enough detail.
Snapdragon, not antagonistic, but when you say it is condescending to send and receive trophies you sound very ungrateful to those who send you trophies, and it means if you send them you are also being condescending :p
Okay, here's one of the things I hate about sending the trophies. I send one EVERY time I lose. I'm not about to decide whether a game was especially well played and send one only then. And I ALWAYS write a personal message because otherwise it is only a cold piece of metal, so to speak. And I ALWAYS end my message with "Heartiest congratulations!" But I feel so stupid writing that to someone way better than me -- as if it had been any effort to beat me. Those guys could have beat me blindfolded!! But I'm not about to stop sending the trophies as long as that is the accepted norm. Just like I will never say "Fine, thank you. And you?" to someone who asks me "How are you?" even if I'm sad or angry or frustrated or -- whatever (close friends excepted, of course). Do you understand what I mean, Babs? But the trophies, especially with their trite captions (some of them) are quite juvenile.
Okay, I'm going to get crucified for those remarks. Go ahead -- I can take it.
I just don't understand why you send them yourself Anda after you state you find sending them so condescending.. that's all..
One minute you say that you find them so condescending and the next minute you say you appreciate being sent them and send them yourself and then the next minute you say you send one every time you lose!
Sure some of the captions are not ideal for the exact message we want to send, but the gist is there, and your own message is what will stand out more..
Some of the old trophies would rarely get used, but some of them were pretty good... loved the " You're a tough nut to crack" one for obvious reasons :p
I only created this forum to really discuss the 'look' of the trophies or icons.. but I won't argue with anyone that some of the old trophies were juvenile and probably rarely if at all got used/sent... But now the trophies ALL 'look' juvenile, that was the point I was trying to make..
Perhaps we should start a forum to suggest what trophies or images/messages we would all like to see added here..
