Following chess notations in a chess book

Hey guys, I recently purchased "How To Reassess Your Chess 4th Edition" by Jeremy Silman, and I am liking the book so far.

However, I find it somewhat difficult for myself to follow all the chess notations when it only offers a limited amount (usually one) of diagrams.

I am sure I am not the only one who experienced this kind of problem, and can anyone tell me how to make such process less painful?

    Thanks!

That is a good way or this is a way if you don't have a chess board, draw it out Laughing

Use a chess board duh lol. Or use the analysis board on here I use it all the time. That is an amazing book. I am more than halfway thru it now and it has already changed the way I look at the chess board. Its really great stuff. Read the amateurs mind first if you haven't that's a great book too.

You could tattoo a chess board on your belly, and cut off the ends of your fingers and toes . . . but you would still need more pieces.

Do you have any friends who drink heavily?
