Can you tell me what norms do someone need in order to become a candidate master or NM IM GM ?

    A link is also helpful.

    "Candidate Master (CM)

The most usual way for a player to qualify for the Candidate Master title is by achieving an Elo rating of 2200 or more. Candidate master ranks below other FIDE titles.  "

I saw many CM who never got 2200 elo .

There must be some norms that a player must do. I often heard that someone needs one more norm to become IM.

I think these norms are like this: - you need to make 6 points out of 9 in a categoty x tournament " and this is what I would like to know .

    Thanks AnthonyCG !

But I also saw here on chess.com that there are titles like CM and NM.

How did they get their title ?

In the US, a rating of 2200 will nab you the NM title.

I don't know anything about the CM title though.

There is also a fee you'll have to pay to get your title. They left out that part...

Chess.com does not award titles. If a member has earned a title, once proof is provided to the site, it is displayed next to their names.

I've heard that to get the GM title it's enough to pass 2500 "virtually" (if you have the norms of course) - that means if you are rated over 2500 after any round of a tournament (like live rating for the top players), you get GM title. Does that also apply for CM, FM, NM and IM? Or does the rating have to be on a rating list?

In some tournaments, if you can place well, you'll automatically be awarded a title. It's only certain ones though. I'm pretty sure that placing first in the world open makes you a GM, but I could be wrong.

"1.52 To have achieved at some time or other a rating as follows:

    GM
    IM
    WGM
    WIM
    ≥2500
    ≥2400
    ≥2300
    ≥2200

Such a rating need not be published. It can be obtained in the middle of a rating period, or even in the middle of a tournament. The player may then disregard subsequent results for the purpose of their title applicationHowever the burden of proof then rests with the federation of the title applicant. It is recommended that players receive a certificate from the Chief Arbiter where they achieve the rating level during an event. Such a certificate should include a note of the date each game was played. Title applications based on unpublished ratings shall only be accepted by FIDE after agreement with the Rating Administrator and the Chairman of the Qualification Commission. Ratings in the middle of a period can be confirmed only after all tournaments for that period have been received and rated by FIDE."

    "

    1.3

Those titles gained by achieving a published rating at some time or other:

    1.31 FIDE Master ≥2300
    1.32 Candidate Master ≥2200
    1.33 Women FIDE Master ≥2100
    1.34

    Women Candidate Master

    ≥2000

My March rating should be 2203, if I get it I'll "report" myself as a titled player to chess.com.

Some may not be aware that all titled players receive a Diamond membership.

In case you did not notice the form used to report your expected title.

How does the USCF define CM?  Is it the same as being an Expert?

    Isn't that a National Master?
