I don't think many of you actually read the OP of the OT's post.  It was clearly not a puzzle from the name of the thread to the question raised in the post.

From the initial post it seemed that this game was still clogging his games in progress section.  In the exact same way a post complaining about people not resigning when they should implies that they are currently stuck in such a game.

Of course I understand that not everyone would read the post that way.  Infact I doubt most people even read all the words.  That doesn't matter.  This issue raises a potential gray area in the rules of this site.

The rule that says no giving advice for a game still in progress is a good one.

A rule stating posters having to state whether the game they are talking about is still in progress or not - would also be a good rule.

End of the day none of this really matters.  The whole post was a waste of time, if the position is clear then it hardly seems taxing to play it out or set up conditional moves to play the game out for you.  If it is too complicated for conditional moves then I would say their is either a flaw in the way conditional moves are done or the position is not clear enough for your opponent to choose to keep playing.  (wrong thread now)

I appreciate your thoughts.  I'm just concerned that if it were an important game to the other player that they understand that I'm not out to get them.  That we're all not out to get them.  We're simply trying to participate in this community and should feel free to do so.  i like to read these forums while waiting for my opponents to make their moves and I don't want to fear the consequences of posting my thoughts; even if the consequences are merely being called a cheater by more respected members of this community.  Maybe the forum rules concerning these matters should be more clear.

In the original post, there is a diagram. There is nothing in the diagram that says either "1-0" or "0-1" or "1/2-1/2".

That alone should be an indication that the game is still in progress as there is no result given.

matalino,

i dont put a 1-0 or 0-1 or 1/2-1/2 in my game posts but that doesnt mean i still have the game going on, some people dont even flip the board to the side they were playing or say what color they were playing. I think the only one here who was cheating was the one who POSTED IT IN THE 1ST PLACE.

I'm currently playing in a couple games and would like to get to this position... can anyone help?

This is all just so silly.  Under the circumstances of the posts involved I don't think anyone cheated.  However in a less clear cut situation people need to be careful both in how they post and how they respond

Ok, I'm sure that cheating was not the intention here, but since the game was ongoing it may be considered as breaking the rules. I think this was purely accidental so no one should get penalised imo. Unfortunately now we'll probably have to check every poster's profile before commenting on any positions since the honor code thing probably won't cut it anymore.

lets all learn from this event and from now on , don't post a game if you're still playing. seems easy enough. also, calling someone a cheater is pretty severe. it should be obvious there was intent to cheat.  I don't see that here.

The entire idea of accusation of cheating in this example is absurd.

Jose says, "this thread is an insult to real cheaters"
