Freakin' .CBV

First of all, why in the world would anyone upload a database in any commercial format, when almost EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL PROGRAM can export to PGN? Unless they have some sort of ties with the company, there's absolutley no reason for it other than just to be jerks and only let people with ChessBase or what have you read the file.

 

That being said... Does anyone have a free program that actually works, that is not ChessBase Light, (I want more than 8000 of the games) that can convert all or most chessbase formats to PGN? The one I want most is CBV, I already found a converter for .CBI and .CBF.

 

That's another thing, WHY IN THE WORLD do they have more than one format? Are they just trying to stop people from actually being able to use their stuff?
