Hello chess.com community! I need your help. I am going to begin training for Master starting on June 1st. One of the things that I would like to do is to add quality content to the chess.com site for chess enthusiasts to enjoy and learn from. My question to my fellow chess.com members is what kind of content would be most helpful? I was thinking of posting annotated games, but my game postings in the past have received little response. Some of my ideas include making a training blog, that describes my methods and what success or failure I'm getting from them. Another idea I am fond of is having annotated games with supplimental training, possibly in the form of puzzles. Perhaps just posting puzzles from critical positions or tactical turning points would be usefull. I would really appreciate your feedback so I can hopefully make a difference at chess.com. Anything I can do to help people enjoy chess more would be fantastic.

Don't post what you think other people want.  Post how you feel is most instructive or aesthetic.  Some will take to it and some will not.

Personally I like the articles that show instructive patterns and plans or plans against a specific system(which I may be having trouble with).

Good luck on your long road to a gm.  Do you have any short term goals?

I wish I was talented enough for GM. My short term goal is to achieve National Master in the USCF. My long term goal is to use that knowledge to help teach critical thinking skills to youth through school and community programs.

NM is your short term goal?

No offense.  But, that is pretty lofty as a short term goal.  Does that mean you see yourself there in a year, 3 years etc?  You don't have to obviously.  But, I would suggest setting much smaller short term goals.  Such as-reach an understanding of all pawn race situations(that is a pretty lofty goal as simple as it sounds) or prepare a line against the poisoned pawn variation of the najdorf and play it at the expert level.

I see myself hitting Master in 5-7 years and setting up the programs for community efforts in the 10-12 year area.

Chessroshi, I think like erikido implied, lessons that focus on an idea are best. For example, open files, the general idea of an opening, light/dark square weaknesses, etc.

oh I see.  WHen you said short term I thought you were talking like about a year or so.  That doesn't seem so unreasonable.  But, as was stated before a more specific skill oriented goal will probably work better imop.  If your goal is just to get to NM then there are MANY different opinions on ways to get there so you won't even know if you are going on the right path(Other than your rating is going up).  That makes it a hard goal to judge until you get there(there should always be measurable standards as to whether you are moving towards your goal.  While rating might be that it also might just be that you were eating better/were less stressed or were playing against a player that more suited your style)

With all that said don't lose sight of that goal either and don't lose that drive.  That is the thing that will get you there.  Without hard work you won't get there and without motivation you won't do that work.
