Garry Kasparov of the Russian Federation currently holds the record for the "Highest Rated Male Chess Player."

In 2000, Kasparov's rating reached the astonishing number of 2,851. In his last appearance on the FIDE Top 100 after his retirement, Kasparov's rating was 2812. Kasparov is one of a very elite group to have made the jump over 2800.

Arguably the strongest player of all time. I hope he carries on playing in exhibitions, he is superb to watch. He is as well a good man, it's a pity there isn't any democracy in Russia, he would have made a great president.

Strange logic... If he would be a president, how can he play chess?

I actually had more respect for him before he got into politics.

Actually, chess and politics don't blend well. In politics, you cannot think like a chess player. But if are a Field Marshal, maybe the idealogy is applicable.
