I was wondering how cool it would be having all the GM's on chess.com participate in an online chess tournament.

First of all it would be correspondence chess so the GM's will be playing with their full power since their is no time limit. Second of all we can view those games by visiting their profile and try and anlayse whats going on.If not and if we are lucky the GM's will analyse their games for us after they finish.

It would be a pretty small tournament -- Julio Becerra is the only currently active GM (i.e., playing games) on this site.

I would love to see LIVE Chess tournaments with GMs playing.

We could view the games also. And analyse within our capacity :)

Why would you limit it with the titled players on this site? Put a cash award and invite GM's for an online tournament. Some may decide to join it. It would be a way of promoting this website, as well as a great activity for the members.

How can you have a cash reward for an online tournament where you can't stop people form cheating?

Ok, so I had to look it up :)  I can't believe how many players participate... maybe before handing out the cash prizes they run your games through a computer?  But the small cheating such as for the opening, and maybe having fritz 5 checking for gross tactical blunders, etc.

I'd like to get all the game scores from that tournament and see if the average blunder rate is very low.  People can be very honest and good, but give them a chance to win money with anonymous cheating and... I just don't except a lot of honesty.

I don't think its a big deal if it is going to be a GM only tournament. It is not difficult to detect moves made by computers these days. Which grandmaster would want to risk their career and reputation for a simple online tournament?
