Hi fellow Chess.commers,

I have made a suggestion to Chess.com that they create groups/teams leaderboards or even a groups/teams "knockout competition" based on the number of members in each group/team e.g.<50,51-100,101-150,etc.I think that this would be much fairer for the "minnow" groups/teams who can find themselves playing groups/teams who have more 2000+ rated members than they themselves have members! It would also give the smaller groups/teams more of an incentive to participate in group/team matches.Anyone have any thoughts on this subject?

Well, you could set up rating limits, to try and keep the matches more equal.

Yes,that already happens and the match result goes onto the major team leaderboard. What I'm suggesting is that there could also be leaderboards for the various ratings divisions and the result could go onto that as well as onto the major leaderboard.

I think they may already have this idea in the works or I could be wrong

I would almost say the # of members is not as important as the "average rating" of the group.  Just another idea for them to think about.  Maybe there are some groups of 12 or less who wish to remain small.  It wouldn't matter who was in the group as long as the average rating was paired up with similar groups, regardless of the # of members.

OK I played on CHESS.COM enough now to know its something I’ll stay with, and this thread seems as good a place to post this as any.

A couple of us have formed our own group, I’ve looked through the forums I still need it explained to me in words of few syllables.

Q1 – If I join a group with lots of members, are my chances of getting a game reduced because of the number of players in that group?

Q2 - If my Group/Team start a match, and I enrol do I get pushed out by higher-ranking players who enrolled after me if the tables are full?

Q3 – Can I enrol in more than one group so long as they are not in the World League?

Q4 – When playing in a World League team, do I choose my country of residence, or where I was born, or does it matter?

Are there any other considerations I should take into account when I’m choosing a group/team?

Feedback please J

That depends on how many matches the group starts or accepts. Assuming that not everyone in the group joins EVERY match, you would have a better chance in active groups.

Yes. (Unless the administrator chops players above you explicitly). There has been discussion of alternative mechanisms here

Yes. (But you can no longer play on BOTH sides of the match.)

You have a free choice of ANY country.

Some group leaders don't seem to tolerate dissent.
