I've often had the experience of reading a word for years without ever hearing it spoken. Sometimes my first attempt to use the word in conversation turns out badly, as I mispronounce it horribly.
Has happened with me, also. Context is spot-on. Pronunciation is not.

So what? Is the comment count in a topic meaningful? No, it's not. Some of the most useless topics can hit ridiculous amounts of comments, it doesn't mean the topic is good, it just means it's being spammed up.
In fact, the number of comments is inversely proportional to the quality of the thread.
