I play a lot of blitz games using the "guillotine" format. Does anyone know if this type of play is available online? I couldn't find it, and I don't see it available on this site (an excellent site, none the less!) I'm assuming readers know what it is. If you don't, mention it in a comment and I'll be glad to explain.
OK, so what is it? is it another name for armageddon?
What's armageddon? The Bruce Willis movie? ......... In guillotine, two players choose a time control (10 minutes is common, but it could be more or less). After each game, the winner has a minute subtracted off his clock for the next game. The first player to reach zero time control wins the series. It's a sort of self-handicapping system that became popular in some clubs with the advent of digital clocks (I think that was the Reagan era...ugh!). It works great for players who are somewhat mismatched in terms of strength. The more the better player wins, the shorter his time control for the next game. So the other player usually starts catching up. Of, course, it leads to a lot of games that are not "theoretically" sound, but, hey, it's blitz! And a lot of fun. It seems it would be fairly easy to do this online. Just needs some one to come up with a program and implement it on a website. Unless, of course, something like this is already out there.
The Messiah will return to earth and defeat the Antichrist (the "beast") who is Satan the Devil, in the battle of Armageddon. Then Satan will be put into the "bottomless pit" or abyss for 1,000 years, known as the Millennial Age.
i'll try playing guillotine sometime! Sounds interesting
Armageddon is when you take a piece, it and all the surrounding pieces explode (except pawns) unless he's talking about something else.
Wow! Too much information! Ha-ha!
