Hello everyone! I just wanted to say hello! I am a 25 year old guy from Sweden that just began to play chess again, last time i played chess was about 10-15 years ago so I am not a good player. Hopefully I will improve a little bit anyway if I stay long enough that is, depends on the community :)

My main hobby is programming and chess might just become a time passer while I program or maybe something I will spend more time with a long side programming. Hopefully there will be a lot of nice people here so I will enjoy my time here!

    Best regards,
    Kim

Greetings!  I, too, have just recently joined after not having touched a chess piece in about a decade.  My advice is to take advantage if they offer you a free trial, play as many games as you can, don't worry too much about rating other than as a gage of improvement, and learn from your mistakes and have fun!

I have played with "Live Chess", It didn't go so well but hopefully I will improve if I play a lot. It's early morning here now so I can blame that :P

The games I played so far is without rating, I play for fun so my rating isn't a issue if it doesn't increase or decrease. I guess I will play some more after I have slept a while and see how it goes :) hopefully I doesn't lose to much so I get bored of playing :)

I think of it this way:  losing is the best way to quickly amass a battery of mistakes to study and learn from.  Laughing

You might also try turn-based chess, where you have up to several days per move.  You can fit it into your own schedule.

Also, you might join one of the "Vote Chess" games just to observe and learn.  Many of the groups work well together figuring out the next move, and players of all levels contribute to the group's thinking.

    Welcome, and have fun!
