Hello people, my name is Mark. I'm 14 years old and from Malaysia. I play the Queen's gambit & the Sicillian Najdorf
Anyone with any useful or interesting tips on these openings can post their ideas here
Thanks
I agree with Reservesmonkey - when I play a gambit I plan (I almost want to say "obviously") that the gambit will be accepted. It's a real drag most of the time when the gambit isn't accepted.
The only one I'll say is different is when King's Gambit is declined. I sort of think when my opponent does that they get packed like sardines in a crushed tin box.
But over here (in Malaysia)...the problem I see with players using the Queen's Gambit is that they assume that their opponents will always decline the gambit. So half of the Queen Gambit players don't really know what to do when someone actually takes their pawn on c4
i avoid any opening with the word "queen" in it.
That's a lot of openings!
hmm, black cant defend his pawn on c4 successfully, which is why it isnt a real gambit... if he tries to do this, you should be ecstatic, and learn to tear him apart. Maybe you mean the declined, slav exchange variation where white takes ages to get his pawn back and black can get connected past pawns on the queenside.
hmm i just checked a line of the QGA and it can still take a while to get the pawn back, but i'm pretty sure if black thinks he can keep it he will come to grief. I remember some chessmaster tutorial, but i basically decided to decline it so i've forgotten the tactics involved in accepting.
