Hi,

My name is Copernick123. I'm still concidered as a new player of chess.com, but I'm already getting better. Right now, I want talk to people who are disapointed about the fact they aren't able of wining as easily as they wish. I only wanted to tell you: keep playing. I also wanted to stop at a certain point, but, you'll see, you'll start learning strategies, and you'll become a good chess player. The only thing that's left to be said is don't make your mind a barrier between you and your dream of excellence. I wish you good luck, and, hopefully, we'll see each other in a few years.

Copernick: You described me perfectly! I kept on playing today till I won my last game in 49 moves checkmate. I had to play  10? games to do that. Stopping with a win. Thank you for your inspiring words Copernick!

THank you for answering. I almost thought, for a second, I was alone in this situation.

Almost everyone hits a wall. The first OTB tournament I played I got a rating of 1200, climbed to 1300 and stayed there for over 2 years! I've only recently started improving my rating this year, I expect to go over 1550 when my rating updates next.

Your sights may be higher but you know plenty as is, and your knowledge is a

great resource for the novices here. Too often they write here on these forums

what they think they know but which is often really wrong and hurtful to their

chess. Like having the piece values all wrong or having no idea when to castle

or rules that don't exist, etc.. Players like you can do much to erase that nonsense

from the more vulnerable minds here.

I feel real bad now. I am 14 and started playing a few years ago, but only once a month or so with my dad. 3 months ago I started at chess.com . Ive played over 200 games and had a rating of 1672. I am now at 1600

Ratings can fluctuate just because we are inconsistent, or we are meeting under-rated opposition. You are young. If you keep at it you can probably be elo 2200+.

Yes, I admit. But, what I really hate is that some people are just not having enough patience for getting at this level. Some of my friends are just discouraged, and it's really bugging me, at a certain point. You need to be patient, but I guess it's not everyone who can play chess...What do you think?
