How old? As old as you are 110 years old is fine if you can see clear and still play chess!

Perhaps you mean how young?

If you can play chess on the PC when you are 2 years old then why not play on here :) I just wouldn't recommend having people under age 8 in the live chess room with all the thrash in there nowadays.

Well, you need to be at least 13 years old, like me to play here. For websites like Jin Applet, I'm not so sure (you can always login as a guest on Jin)

common sense.. children under 7 should not be on here where so many people flame and stuff.. bad for the kids!

people over 80 would want to live longer and live life to the fullest! so they stay off the computer and go travel somewhere

Odd isnt it ? I have never understood why anyone would lie about their age here? I mean, its not required that you give a birthdate so noone needs to know. if you are going to give it anyway , why lie about it ?  Makes no sense to me. If it was required information and you didnt want people to know I could understand lying then.... but when its not required ?  Strange

the following is from  http://www.chess.com/legal.html

In consideration of your use of the Service, you represent that you are of legal age to form a binding contract. You also agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by the Service's registration form and (b) maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or if Chess.com has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, Chess.com has the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any and all current or future use of the Service. Chess.com is concerned about the safety and privacy of all its users, particularly children. For this reason, parents or guardians of children under the age of 13 who wish to allow their children access to the Service must create an account that is maintained by a legal guardian of at least 18 years old and monitor the child's usage. By allowing a child access to your account, you also give your child permission to access all areas of the Service. Please remember that the Service is designed to appeal to a broad audience. Accordingly, as the legal guardian, it is your responsibility to determine whether any of the Service areas and/or Content are appropriate for your child.

If I remember my legalese this means <technically> that if you under 18 (in the US) you need a parent or guardian to sign you up and if under 13 they should also monitor you...that said, there is no lower limit I can find.
