I have been a member of this site since August 2007.  I am sick and tired of constant emails from chess.com asking me if I want to start paying to use their site.  I would never pay for this site.   Chess isn't that important to me.

That is the price you pay for a very good FREE service.  They make money from Ad revenue and paying members.  The lowest membership cost is $25 per year.  If that is too much to pay in order to stop getting the emails, quit complaining.  You'll forgive me for being so blunt but that is how I see it.

if 1 time every 3 weeks is constant, i'm sorry about that :)

if chess.com isn't that important to you, then why should your complaint be important to me? :)

Are you really sick and tired by such a trivial thing?

Introduce yourself to the powers of "junk/spam" folder.

I seem to get an email every time I finish a game. I think you are really underestimating how many emails get sent out.

he's not talking about emails really (we don't email marketing stuff to anyone). he's talking about the on-site chess.com messages we send once every 3 weeks to free members.

if you want to throttle how many actual emails you are getting, go here: http://www.chess.com/home/alerts.html

Every email has a link in it to manage what events email you notifications... how hard is it? Not hard at all. In fact easier than making a post on here.

@karljt:

There is no such thing as free beer!

-Those mails are just a small price you pay

If chess is n't important, you may consider deleteing your account.

Chess dot com has several competitors.  Competitors who don't harrass you if you don't pay.

I can assure you if I went to the email page and checked off "email me for every single event" my inbox would look a lot worse than his.

Instead of faulting the site for giving you more options, maybe you should fault yourself for complaining about the options you have selected.

Nice Erik. I appreciate a businessman who can tell it like it is.

It's a simple misunderstanding - what you're complaining about are optional alerts. Turn them off here:

http://www.chess.com/home/alerts.html

And you'll only get one every 3 weeks.

If it matters so much why don't you just go and join chess.com's non-harrassing competitors? We won't mind. I promise.

If you tell it to also send alerts to your default email I suggest you uncheck some of those boxes.

Are you talking to me?

No, I'm talking to the guy who tells people to look at your screenshot as if chess.com is an evil website that spams people. You asked for those emails and you got what you asked for.
