I got reported for being Lucky!

Is it really okay for someone to report someone else and accuse them of using a chess software just for losing two games? He complained about how I kept making mistakes in both games and I cheated to win in the end. What do you guys think? Does it look like I used a chess machine?

No, it doesn't seems the computer style of playing.

Getting accused for being a cheater is the same as saying: "You are so damn good that i cannot believe it is a human playing."  Thank you for the compliment is the appropriate response :-)

On a more serious note: no computer worth using would make the kind of blunders you did :p

Oh, and I got the "Use of engines is cheating" warning after this game: http://www.chess.com/livechess/game.html?id=317250949  -- it is maybe 10 moves of theory, and then my opponent drops a piece. My hope/guess is that the warning was triggered by some automated system. If I really was reported, it must have been for the game before:  http://www.chess.com/livechess/game.html?id=317234848  (where I overlooked a checkmate in two at the end! My only excuse is that I was living on the time increment...)

Even being implied being a cheater by chess.com can leave a sour taste in your mouth -- what if I really do get unfairly banned...?

The only thing you were lucky about was that you met such an awful opponent.

I think I've met just a few engine users. Luckily I only play bullet nowadays where engine users tend to time out pretty easily since I play closed structures

haha he probably pulled an allnighter like me. I don't know how to tell whether or not someone is using an engine.

how rampant is cheating on this site?  I can't wrap my head around why anyone would want to.  Doesnt everybody on here want to improve?  I guess not lol.  it didn't even hit me that people would actually be that lame to sit there with chess software open and use a computer to come up with the best move just to beat some dude on the internet they've never met and receive no reward for it.  If you cheat on this website you are a loser of the purest form.  It doesn't get anymore pathetic than that.  Not accusing you last sire lol, I'm just commenting on those who do.

Folks, cheating is not supposed to be discussed here. Please join the Cheating Forum and talk about this there.

I agree with you, I joined chess.com because I thought it'd help with my grades lol. Cheating would be pointless in my case

Yes, they are automated messages from chess.com. I got one after a game where my king miraculously survived a 15 moves hunt and then drew a most likely lost rook endgame. But if you're not really cheating, the automatic detection will calm down very quickly.

I can't go to the "cheating forum" - if my wife walked in and saw that on the screen I would be divorced in seconds flat.

A free site doesn't mean there aren't rules. Discussion of cheating has been against the rules for years.

Dear God!  is this the forum policeman ?

oh no!  did i just bring in religion ?

No, but, tbh, this entire thread is kind of silly. There's no way that someone with a rating that low is cheating, and the OP really shouldn't care that he was reported, because if he's not cheating, then he has nothing to worry about.

(I do like the Amy Adams pic, btw :) )
