Nothing has ever frustrated me the way chess frustrates me. In the span of about 15 games, I've lost what... 13? And every time I want to put my fist through a wall.
Does anyone else feel like beating the piss out of something when they play? Because I hate this ****ing game.
TheGrobe
Too bad it's so damned addictive at the same time.
At least with chess I feel like I'm making progress though. You really want frustration? Take up golf.

Try playing slower games. I didn't even know what blitz was when I started out.

As Adam Sandler said in the movie, "Billy Madison", '...Take it easy psycho...'
AlCzervik
Have a drink. Relax. Fix your wall and play again.
heinzie
I have a wall here especially designed for this purpose

Who said you had to play fast chess? What's wrong with multi-day?

What is your goal you think that you are the next Bobby Fischer? Ha... just learn from your failures and try not to give up. Just be calm and maybe have a beer. it helps me at times when i play

What you need is INSTRUCTION .No one enjoys losing game after game, you need the right tools in order to defeat your opponents, grab a book on chess tactics go through it carefully, another on basic chess endings and master an opening which suits best, don't go from one to another like a flying squirrel goes from one tree to the next.GOOD LUCK.

No matter what field of games/competitive sport, you are very unlikely ever to be the best, and will always suffer your fair share of losses. Therefore I think it's helpful to focus more on how well you perform relative to your own PERSONAL capabilities. For example, if I lose to a Grand Master (or an International Master, for that matter), it doesn't bother me, because I would never have a realistic chance.

Skwerly
Definitely.
I hear this, but the problem is when I get my rating up to a decent place, then I lose 80 points in a blur of losses, many of which are stupid (missing obvious checkmates) or totally ****ing stupid (running out of time with a forced mate two moves away). Losing to a player several hundred points higher than me doesn't upset me as long as I play a strong game. Losing to a player 100 lower than me stings. I just want to smash something when it happens.
Sport losses are different.
You really want frustration? Take up golf.
Yep. No walls out there. Although, judging by the OP, I'd bet there would be lots of helicoptered clubs. And a high credit card bill.
CerebralAssassin
you're just going through a slump...that's all.try slower games.blitz is the last thing you want to be playing when you're slumping and sucking.

To hate chess is to love chess.
I play golf, too.
I'd say both are about equivalent with difficulty and frustration at making progress.
I've played chess with someone who picked up the chessboard with the pieces on it and flung it up in the air when I checkmated him.
I've played with a golfer who smashed his golf club against a tree and broke it after hitting a bad shot (it was a "worm burner")
Perhaps, it's me. Maybe I bring this out in people (lol).
Truth is, some people have conniption fits. You, the OP, seem to fill the bill on this. And, as several people told you, knock off the speed chess until you develop at least a smidgeon of skill.
Study, practice...until you improve.
But, I think you are just a hot head and won't take any advice. So:
What are you gonna do...bust me in the nose?

make yourself some soup, go shopping and buy some stuff you dont really need, play those online games where you shoot aliens, read a book you never wanted to read
do something different, anything other than a game of chess, just to get the mind off chess
