No - definitely not. I want the game to have integrity and credibility whether I win or lose.
Integrity is more valuable than a game or money.
How does $24 billion sound as a test of one's integrity?
You can buy more integrity with that then you can handle.
The figure comes from Standard & Poor's. It assess the costs of recent demonstrations of the absence of integrity among a small group whose power greatly exceeds their capacity for judgement.
Cheat for a title? Definitely not. Cheat for money? Depends how much and what circumstances. In a casual game, yeah why not. In a state championship, then the person losing may be losing more than a game.
But like Ziryab said, what about an obscene amount of money? Then afterwards you give the loser a million and say sorry and no one cares
Well, I guess it depends on where the money is coming from too.
If you cheat, you cheat yourself.
A lie should be trampled on and extinguished wherever found. I am for fumigating the atmosphere when I suspect that falsehood, like pestilence, breathes around me. Thomas Carlyle
I'm worried that none here thought of quoting good ol' Churchill here :
lol that was funny=)
Was that Winston Churchill?
No. I'd rather win a game because of my own ability and what I did instead of not actually winning. To me, cheating isn't "true" winning.
yes, but think of the 10,000 bucks...
It would depend what my friend would lose, and who needs the money more. That is the important question.
Try to look for it on the site of Standard and Poor, but it did not come up in a search.
I would cheat, but put myself in a worse position to see if I could hold out.
Is the Caro-Kann the opening I was searching for or should I go for 1...e5 ?
