I'm tired of this daily shutting down of server

What's the deal? Everyday I constantly lose games due to the server being shut down. This is getting very frustrating. I'm wondering if members who pay are experiencing this as well.

About 50% of my losses are from disconnects and the server being worked on.

    Anyone else dealing with this?

I'm on pretty frequently and I've never noticed two consecutive days of the site being down for maintenance... and when they are going down they have an alert at the top of the page.

Also, if you're losing a live game due to the server being shut down I wonder why your opponent never loses one?  You're both being kicked off right?

About 50% of your losses are from disconnects?  You have 2600 games over the course of a year.  I doubt the site is going down that frequently.  Seems more like blowing off steam than anything factual... unless you'd like to be a little more specific.

So live chess goes down daily or the whole site?  I guess just live chess, I'm rarely on there lately.

Yeah, I just make stuff up. Didn't know I needed to bring pre trial discovery evidence. I'm playing on my iPhone. I do not receive any notice that the site is being shut down. I said, 50% of my losses are due to server disconnect. I run about average as a player... Around 70-73% win rate. About half of those losses are coming from disconnects. If I played on a computer instead of my phone maybe I'd see the warnings. However, when I'm on my computer I use yahoo chess. It's very stable...

Thank you to those who answered my question. I was just wondering if premium players weren't getting interruption. Do you guys think paying has its advantages?

People embellish stories all the time.  You don't have to prove anything to me of course, similarly please don't mind if I choose not to believe you.  I'm not staff or anything so it really doesn't matter.

The average player wins 70% of their games?  Somehow I don't think that's mathematically possible Laughing

I'm on here all day every day and the site goes down about once a every 1 1/2 weeks for just an hour.  Being a paying member does not change your connection stability.  If however you play infrequently and happen to play during the hours they due maintanence and unluckily pick the days they do when you play I can see it being annoying.  All in all this site is the best for me.  The quality of player at Yahoo chess is terrible IMO, if you want to learn how to play against ...unusual openings play at yahoo..  ICC and Dasher is a great site but the competition is serious I usually go their for live games or when chess.com is down.  Live is quirky and a good part of my losses are due to disconnection but that is because I have a wi-fi stick (using a sim card like in a phone or tethering) so I'd imagine you have similiar problems.  All the other sites like instantchess and chesscube are far inferior to this site in terms of quality of play, service from staff and information available.

What I love about this site is if Im playing a particularly tough opponent I can just go use one of the many tools on here and research new opening idea's.  No books or practice board needed.  The forum's are great too, except for a few bad eggs like hurricanmicheal most people are really helpfull.

Haha,, of course I am just kidding hurricanemicheal you are far from a troll and a positive element here,,,.  lol

Wafflemaster, Maybe you don't but feel free to go through my win/loss record and do the math.

I've had my iPhone app claim that the site went down for maintenance when I can access live chess on a laptop just fine. This used to happen to me quite often. Not sure if this is what you are experiencing or not.

I get the warnings before the server goes down & I play on a smartphone/droid. ;)

I see the site down every few weeks for maintenance, but it shows the "site down" page with a computer game to play while you wait.  There are warnings sent out before this happens.

Maybe there is a problem with the Live server instead?  But it seems far more likely the problem is with phone apps.  It may not be a fixable bug if you go through an area with "no bars" the site may read you as disconnecting.

Sure, that it just idle speculation, and as useless as any other advice you will get here.  To attract staff attention, post in "Help & Support" forum or fill out a support ticket on the problem.

Posting in general is like walking into a food court to complain about your cable service.  Unless you're buying, no one wants to hear it, and they can't help you with it anyway.

    I checked you win 54%

Lotdharnois, thank you for proving my point. Now take half of 46% which is 23% and add that to my win record. You'll see I was spot on. Lately 23% of the time I'm getting disconnected with losses. Now, it's absolutely impossible to know that I would actually win all those games that I was disconnected from but what made post this in the first place was the fact I was either a piece up, up on time (I play 10 min. games) or better position.

Estrgron, That has happened to me as well. Was very weird that I couldn't play through app. but could go to the chess.com site via my phone. : /

If you blame the server for shutting down half your games, I mean not to be rude but you're clearly high or drunk or idk something else kids do these days.

someone gave me some ice cream for free the other day and i was complaining so much that it wasn't my favorite flavor, didn't have any nuts or chocolate in it, etc, that by the time i got around to eating it, most of it had melted...but damn, it was good

Since I have to keep repeating myself... I'll do it one more time... I said 23% roughly. What country do you live in where that's half?
