Hello all. I am constantly trying to improve and learn more about chess each day. It is in many ways a habit of mine and always like to try win all games. This is ofcourse is not the case and would like to know what other players do to improve their games.
However, at the moment I play constantly and try to learn openings. I would like to improve my tactics and end games. I find that the tactics of chess is interesting and difficult to complete successful. Being a paying member of chess.com, I am able to use tactics trainer, the forthcoming opening analyser, and Chess Mentor is interesting but I have to pay more to use it.
So apart from Chess.com, what do other members do to improve their game? What do members do to try and improve their tactics and end games? Any advice and ways to improve would be helpful.
The biggest way of improving is going over your own games, looking at mistakes and things you could have done better. We rarely play perfectly so there's bound to be some errors to find. Also it is good to look at games played by masters which is very good for improving your middlegame and endgames.
One way of increasing tactics that I've heard of was a radical form of chess where players would take multiple turns moving. Player A would make one move then player B makes two moves. Player A then makes three moves and player B makes four moves and the game continues this way. It's a crazy way to increase tactical vision because not only do you have to plan out your strategy, but the simultaneous moves that your opponent can reply with after your group of moves. As the game goes on it gets tougher to play and your moves really start to count. Moving randomly is not the way to play because you may get crushed by a mating attack after the moves you didn't thnk much about.
Endgames should be practiced just as openings are because they are equally important. There's loads of good engame play in master games. Theres also a lot of good puzzles on the site which are helpful too.
