The new mobile chess support looks great ... but, alas, I have an iPhone and it doesn't seem to be supported.  Is there any chance for an iPhone app popping up in the not-too-distant future?

    Thank you!

That will be great!  I've been reading up a bit as to why the existing Java MIDlet approach won't work and it seems that Apple's ... uhmmmm ... shall we say, arrogance, is hard at work once again.

Erik, being a programmer my self, if there's anything I can do to help with this development, please let me know.  Plus, I'd be more than happy to beta test something if possible.

    Thanks!

Outstanding.  I've been waiting for this for a long time.  My wife already hates my blackberry and isn't a huge fan of chess.com (largely because of the demands of both on my time) -- this should be a hit with her.

I am seeing an issue with this though -- I just made a couple of on-line moves via my computer, but those games are still showing up on my blackberry as my move with the position as it was prior to my making a move on my machine.  I've tried refreshing on the blackberry, but they're still one ply behind.

I wonder if it's going to be an app-store app or an iPhone-friendly web application...

Erik -- can you tell us if it will be an actual app that will go through the iTunes store, or will it be a more "mobile" site, that Safari will be able to better render?

That news alone is worth the cost of upgrading my membership last month!

Erik, I don't have a phone on my HP iPaq PDA, but it has wireless.  It runs windows mobile 6.  Will it be able to run the chess.com mobile now or in the future?  It doesn't seem to work now.

And will it only work through iphones or will the ipod touch be able to run it. I am working in South Korea and they are still working on getting the iphone here.   I am so psyched at the possibility of remote access of the site!  Great work!

I have an iPod Touch (1st gen) - the only iTunes apps that won't run on it are those that require a microphone or camera, as the 1st gen has neither (2nd gen has a mic added but still no camera).  Can't see that being a problem with any type off chess app!

My iPod also can view the chess.com regular site fine, if a bit slowly.  Maybe it's a browser issue?  A new optimized-for-mobile site would be fantastic!

Can anyone recommend the best apps for iPhone chess? I dont need online, just the best apps for playing on the phone.  I hate chessmaster's app. It takes forever to move, and isn't very good.  tChess on my friends first gen beat my chessmaster on my 2nd gen iPhone.  tChess's layout is more like Fritz, which I like, and its much faster, but I haven't seen any other programs. if anyone has any experience with various programs, I'd love to know which are the best.

    What is chessgenius, for instance?

Check out this thread -->  http://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/best-iphone-chess-app

In my opinion, ChessGenius (advanced) and Deep Green (casual) are the top dogs among iPhone chess apps.  Both are in the app store.

I think I'm going to have to call bias on your selection of Deep Green.  Not that I know any better, it just smells a little funny to me.

Cyberchess is an iPhone app that lets you play on FICS and ICC. It works reasonably well.
