Is chess more likely to raise your IQ or change your life expectancy?

There have been threads discussing the IQ of chess players, e.g. whether having a high IQ yields a good game of chess. Now there is data emerging that playing chess is a good brain activity that contributes to increased brain function, brain health, and brain plasticity.

However, brain plasticity is increased by working on problems out of the comfort zone, so is the challenge of playing a lot of chess alone, the puzzle of each game, sufficient to overcome the 'comfort-zone' aspect? And is there any evidence that a person's IQ was raised by n points, predominately due to playing chess?

What about impacts on health? Complicated because sedentary lifestyle detracts from longevity, but brain health improves judgement and self-control and leads one to make better health-related choices, generally.  Not to mention the effect on mood and stress levels.

It would be interesting to have metrics on the lifespans of chess players in general, and to see how chess tends to impact some of the more profound aspects of a person's life and well being.
