is it really playing drunk a good option?

Yes if your opponent is dead, or even drunker than you. Can't really think of any reasons why I would be playing chess if I was drunk. Clearly very crazy people here on chess.com.

I am never as think as my opponent drunks I am.

hahahahaha   I  agree with you

Okay Wahlberg.

No, I think it's a horrible idea. Alcohol is definitely the wrong substance for playing logical Chess.

What if you're a bit hyper and have just enough alcohol to slow you down to focus?  Is that a possibility?   Having said that, I can be impulsive, but I don't drink or do drugs.

I love playing chess and relax with a glass of red wine....

Well, I can speak only from my experience, but playing intoxicated drastically reduces your focus on the board, you make the silliest blunders and resort more often to hope Chess than it is good for you.

I only play unrated when drunk, it's hella fun but I play like an idiot.

Well, from my days of smoking pot (in my youth/young adulthood), I experimented quite a bit with dose and variety.  It's very easy to overdo anything, and very difficult to find the ever-elusive 'just right', if such a thing can ever be reliably found.

But I would imagine there is some line between sober and drunk that might prove advantageous for some people at some times.

I tried but had some troubles with my 2 kings

At the time I'm writing this, I'm pretty baked. That's why I'm here on the forums instead of playing some Chess. Pot drags my reaction time down to 0, so Blitz isn't an option here, but I believe it can be quite expedient to your tactical vision in slower time controls. I achieved my greatest Online Chess victories because I stared for 20 minutes on my computer screen while being stoned. I'm not advocating the usage of pot of course, but for me it alters the way I manuever through the game in a positive way.

I got an A in a very difficult physical science summer class where I did most of my studying for the final on an organic mind altering substance.  It was Chemistry and redox reactions were really depressing me, because I realized that everything adds up to zero and zero is the key to life, or the key to my life anyway.

But in the long run, I just don't think drugs give to you they don't rob from you later, when you really don't need it.  The best experiences never come on cue, but the worst ones are endured frequently.  The peak experiences are great - that's why most people get into drugs in the first place, but the downsides -- always the downsides.

I swear to drunk I'm not God.

I ... have ... not ... the slightest idea, what you're trying to say there, buddy! Laughing

I'll be the judge of that. Now, if you gentlemen wouldn't mind sending me a sample....

Well, since I own a bar, I play the majority of my games while drinking. A few beers won't hurt anything but actually getting drunk is generally terrible for your chess. I find that both my reactions are slower and yet my decisions are more impulsive, ie the worst of both worlds. That said, if you can piece together your drunken reasoning the next morning there's plently to learn from.
