when you here someone say this gives whatever color a better position does that mean that that color has better tactics options.
It means that color is winning.
It means that the side has an advantage, which could really mean anything. Maybe they have a better pawn structure, more space in a certain area of the board, more central control, more material, a safer king; you get the idea.
