here's a paragraph written by Kasparov. Despite its humble 64 squares and 32 pieces chess is virtually an infinite game. The number of possible games is estimated to be 10 to the power of 123. The figure reduces the number of atoms in the universe to a meaninglessly small amount. Million of gameshave been played, thousands of books written, and yet there is no exact formula that can guarantee victory.

Well, there was recently a program developed that was unbeatable in checkers. However, an unbeatable chess program will take millions of years to develop, and it would have to impossible for humans to be unbeatable.
